Astoria, Oregon

This was a fun park we found in my new favorite little town...Astoria, Oregon! We happened to end up there in the middle of the night. We also happened upon the coolest hotel called the Cannery Pier Hotel and yes, it was at the end of a pier on the Columbia River. The rooms were lovely and the bathroom had a claw foot bathtub and robes! Too bad we didn't need the fireplace that night but we did use the binoculars they provided to look out on the river in the morning from our balcony!! It was a really neat place. Of course this was the night that poor little numb bum Ace decided to cry all night long. I sat in the toilet part of the bathroom most of the night rocking him with the fan on. I really can't believe no one called the management on us.
The homes here were so cute and colorful and lots of them were historic ship captain's homes from the early 1900's. The infamous 'Goonies' house can also be found here in Astoria. We asked the kid at Dairy Queen if he knew where it was and he told us and said that the lady that owns it now is in no mood for fans of the movie looking at her house, ever. She remodeled it and painted it and will call the cops if you try to come near it. Fun. We found many other things to do, like...eat seafood! The Cannery Cafe is a must try!
